These gamified productivity apps will get any hero back on track. Get your smart-device out of your backpack and portal to the Productivity Dimension! (Beware the Mindless Scrolling Vortex)

1. Habit Hunter

Android / iOS

Habit Hunter is an RPG goal & task management app. First of all: MAP! You see your progress while doing quests/battling monsters. In Habit Hunter, you can create bigger goals with sub-tasks and to-do’s. Rewards are, for example, items and armor. There’s also a social aspect: tribes, where you can join your friends in your task-filled journey. The app has ads with different level premium options (one-time payment).

2. Habitica

Android / iOS / Browser

Habitica is a gamified productivity app with features like habits, dailies, and to-do -lists. Game elements are many: character growth, classes, items, pets, quests… you can also set rewards for yourself. If you’re most motivated by social accountability, this is your app. Find yourself a party and start questing! (Works on browser, but I recommend the app.)

3. Epic to-do list

Android

Epic to-do list is a gamified to-do list (bet you didn’t guess that from the app name). In this app, you can use rewards to customize your avatar, unlock features, and buy gear. You can assign difficulty levels and attributes to your tasks, and see your skill points on your character page. The (app) Creator is there to walk you through the app features which gives the app a nice personal touch.

4. Do It Now

Android

Do it now is for those who want to customize the crap out of their to-do’s, structure their tasks and see the areas they’re working on. While having some game elements: levels, skills, add your rewards. The app has ads and a subscription possibility. At the moment, the language settings can be a bit off, depending on the translation level of your language. If using an app in English is not your thing, this app might be.

psst, iOS users! There’s something just for you too: Bounty Tasker and HeroMode

5. Focus Quest

Android / iOS

Is your focus level 0? This could be the app for you. Focus Quest is a gamified timer app. It’s quite an actual game with a story, bosses, gear, rewards, talents… When you’re battling some VERY_BORING tasks, this app will motivate you, because you get to play the game (app) as a reward.

Honorary mention: TaskHero

Available on: Android / coming soon on iOS

This cool-looking app is still in beta (good time to give feedback!). The basics work, and it has some great potential.
